FAQ’s on Exilis Ultra™ skin rejuvenation

What areas does Exilis Ultra treat?

Exilis Ultra has a fat reduction module and a skin tightening module.

The fat reduction module heats fat cells to a temperature that permanently destroys them which is effective on areas of stubborn, diet-and-exercise-resistant fat, for example on the stomach, inner and outer thighs, upper arms and back.

The skin tightening module causes the collagen support tissues in the skin to reconfigure and tighten, thereby stimulating and strengthening the collagen, improving skin laxity, texture and reducing cellulite. It delivers particularly good results on areas of the face and body prone to sagging including the jowls, neck, décolletage, thighs and knees.

Is it safe?

The Exilis Ultra™ is extremely safe as it delivers precise heating and cooling plus real time monitoring of skin temperature. This allows our skilled practitioners to reach therapeutic temperatures in the shortest amount of time providing a predictable and therefore beneficial outcome while ensuring your safety and comfort.

Does it hurt?

The Exilis Ultra™ treatment is not painful. It feels like a warm, heated massage. Your body temperature is constantly monitored and the settings adjusted to make sure that during your treatment you are comfortable at all times.

What’s the downtime?

Your skin may look slightly pink for 1-2 hours after the treatment but this may vary slightly from patient to patient.

What happens to the ‘destroyed’ fat cells?

Over time, the body metabolises and excretes the ‘destroyed’ fat cells as waste and there is usually no increase in either cholesterol or fat levels in the blood. To help this process, we recommend that you increase your water intake and exercise levels the day before and after each treatment.

Will Exilis Ultra™ work for me?

The ideal candidate for Exilis Ultra™ is someone within two stone of their ideal body weight with areas of soft, pinchable fat and/or skin laxity, cellulite and wrinkles.

How many treatments will I need?

Generally a series of treatments will be required to achieve the desired result. We often recommend a course of 4-6 treatments but this will of course depend on your cosmetic concerns and the goals you want to achieve.

How long do the results after the course of treatment last?

Treatment for sagging skin and wrinkles – results can last for up to 2 years for most of our patients.

Treatment for unwanted fat – there are long term results for most patients (as long as you maintain your weight with normal diet and exercise).

What are the risks and complications of treatment?

All non-invasive procedures carry a small amount of risk which is why we will only proceed with the treatment after a face-to-face consultation with one of experienced practitioners. During the consultation a full assessment will be carried out and all the important cautions and contraindications discussed with you.
